Hearing a knock, Moon became so frightened.. but reluctantly stood up, went, and peeped through the window. He saw it was still raining laboriously and the night was quiet and calm with no one in sight.

“That must be the wind” he sighed.

He sat on the floor; So I am now a murderer? Me moon? No, it can’t be.

looking at Ama’s body lying lifeless on the floor without any sign of moving.

Moon lives in a two-bedroom apartment, in a big compound, he has just a neighbor who stays in the next apartment.

Everyone has retired to bed when Moon murdered his fiancé Ama in cold blood.

Moon didn't know what to do at that moment, he was so devastated and confused about everything.

He sat on the couch looking at AMA’s lifeless body on the cold floor, he was confounded and scared. He got on his knees praying and asking God to show him mercy and wake Ama up, ” I promise never to ever hit a woman again in my entire life lord, please wake her up” I’m very sorry for my stupidity. I feel so expressionless and mislaid, what will I do? What will I do?

He cried and sat on the floor again gazing, what have I gotten myself into? He asked, suddenly he got up and went to the bedroom, coming out he had his car keys. 

Moon went to the window again to peep, to be sure no one was in sight. Then he carried AMA’s body to the car, it was still raining and everyone was in their houses. 

He drove off to the hospital. Getting to the hospital, the doctor checked Ama and confirmed her dead on arrival, the doctor turned to Moon and asked him, who is she to you and what happened to her?

Moon started stammering and scratching his head while shading tears, she is my Fiancé. 

Yes? What happened to her? What killed her? The doctor enquired.

She came back this evening crying that she argued with a reckless driver who bashed her car, I saw bruises on her face and body and asked her what the man did to her, she said the man got angry after she slapped him and got physical with her then ran away with his car before people could intervene.

I was so angry, I wondered what kind of man hits a woman. How can? 

I wanted to bring her to the hospital for proper treatment but she insisted I leave it till morning, that she was fine then later I found out she was running a temperature and she lost consciousness, so I decided to drive her here immediately. I didn’t know she was gone, my Fiancé is gone…

Wherever that wicked driver is, he will know no peace for killing an innocent girl. Ama was a lovely soul and I loved her so much.

Is alright, the doctor said… sorry for your loss even though your story does not add up,  I will advise you to get the police involved and find the said driver so that you can get justice for her soul. That is all you owe her now. 

Police? Is there any need? She doesn’t even know this driver at all, no one can trace him. He ran away after beating her.

Well, is up to you. Do whatever you want.

The doctor walked out, shaking his head in dismay.

Moon, went back home leaving her body in the hospital. Throughout the night he couldn’t sleep, he was nervous and crying. He cried and prayed all night.

Immediately it was morning, he jumped off the bed and took his phone to call his family. He told everyone the same lies he told the doctor, he was crying and cursing throughout the phone calls. AMA’s friend Lilian came over that morning, she cried her heart out. You have to find that monster of a driver and get him arrested, he can’t do this to my friend and go scot-free. Moon, you have to do something immediately, what do you want me to do? I don’t even know this driver or where it happened, I don’t know what to do as it stands now. 

But Ama never mentioned anything to me when I called her last night, she sounded okay and we tell each other everything, how come she didn’t tell me about the driver? Inquisitive Lilian asked.

Lilian, you know your friend, she must have thought telling you would be her disturbing you and you know how much she hates being a burden to anyone. 

Yeah, that’s true… But. 

there are no buts. Okay? I’m just so angry I can’t find that wicked driver.

Moon's family and close friends all came to his house that morning.

Moon and Ama were set to wed in a month, they have been engaged for 2 months and dated for 3 years. They were so in love and seems indivisible until tragedy struck.

What is the next thing to do now, Moon's mother asked, I think it is best everything is done now so that you can move on with your life my son.

Move on? Lilian asked angrily, we need to do something about this, we can't let that filth driver go free o.

Lilian took her phone and dialed the DPO’s number, but Moon took the phone from her and smashed it on the floor immediately and Lilian gave him a hot slap on his back head. 

 Are you mad? She asked him, prepared to descend on him again.
